We’ve had two weeks of the baseball season to compile some real analysis of the area teams. Here’s who’s ranked, who’s on the bubble, and why … The Rankings 1. Park Vista (5-0) No missteps by Cobras to this point 2. Palm Beach Central (5-1) Shutout wins vs. Dwyer, Wellington 3. Dwyer (3-1) Blown out by Central, but ten-runned Jupiter 4. Jupiter (6-1) Must get back on track after tough week 5. Summit Christian (5-1) One of area’s power-packed offenses 6. American Heritage (3-2) Dylan Silva’s injury won’t hurt too bad 7.  Royal Palm Beach (6-0) First big test comes against American Heritage 8. Benjamin (4-0) Hanging with the big boys this season 9. Trinity Christian (3-2) Many tough games to come in next two weeks 10. Early thoughts on the 2012 season

The high school baseball season doesn’t officially start until February, but baseball never really stops around here. Fall ball is in full swing, and most of the country’s top high school players (and 50-75 of Palm Beach County’s best) are showing off at the WWBA World Championships this weekend at Roger Dean Stadium. That in mind, here are nine intriguing teams to watch this season, in no particular order: 1. Dwyer. Coach Frank Torre took over two years ago with a mission to bring the Panthers to prominence. It’s happening. The Panthers already have one of the nation’s best young arms in Ole Miss commit Cheyne Bickel, a junior. They got a huge boost with outfielder Jamal Martin, an FSU commit, transferring from Forest Hill in April. Wellington 3B Peter Rivera commits to Miami

Wellington High third baseman Peter Rivera committed to the Miami Hurricanes, coach Scott Riddle said. Rivera (5-10, 190) has a power bat and plays strong defense at third. Last year in his junior season, Rivera had a team-high four homers and drove in 20 runs. Read the full story here on the Post site.
